Karen and Stu's homemade fish pie
Delicious homemade fish pie, you can’t beat it on a chilly, drizzly British Summer evening and it's so easy to make.
I pop my potatoes in my AGA stainless steel saucepan, which takes no time to boil on the AGA boiling plate. In the meantime I prepare the white sauce in my trusty AGA sauce pot so easy to make with its non stick interior - no mess and easy to clean afterwards.
I mash the potatoes with butter and whole grain mustard and spread it on top of my fish smothered in white sauce, all piled into my AGA Portmeirion roasting dish and topped off with a generous helping of grated cheese, while Eva the dog waited patiently for any to drop on the floor as a little treat. (how could she not have a little treat too) The roasting dish then slides easily on the set of runners in the middle of the roasting oven for about 30 minutes.
While the fish pie is cooking nicely, I pop my broccoli & cauliflower in a saucepan onto the boiling plate and once brought to the boil I pop them in the Simmering Oven to finish off. Wearing the Pheasant Apron (which my wife bought me as a present) protects me nicely and the black AGA Gauntlets are great for taking things in and out of the oven without getting that famous AGA burn.
With the fish pie cooked and the cheese bubbling deliciously on top I serve this with broccoli & cauliflower and its ready to eat. Yummy.
